Co-op’s £137m takeover of Nisa cleared

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has approved the Co-operative Group's £137m takeover bid of Nisa. The CMA said that the Co-operative Group (Co-op), as a groceries retailer, and Scunthorpe-based Nisa Retail as a groceries wholesaler, did not compete head-to-head. However, since Nisa supplies over 4,000 groceries stores, the CMA said it had carefully considered the potential impact of the merger on competition between shops.
