Butcher shifts retail strategy after weak high street performance

Butcher and retailer Crawshaw Group has warned about the profitability of its high street stores and has accelerated its plans to shift its focus towards factory shops after an indifferent Christmas.

Like-for-like sales were down 6.1% in the 15 weeks to Christmas and only store openings - including two of its factory shop format - ensured its total sales crept upwards.
