Retailers enjoy summer sales boost

Retail sales growth picked up in the year to July, exceeding expectations for minimal growth and driven by strong performances from clothing shops and grocers. According to the latest monthly CBI Distributive Trades Surve of 111 firms, of which 57 were retailers, the volume of sales grew at a healthy pace, while orders placed on suppliers rose for a second consecutive month.
