Law firms abandon plans to merge into a £130m-turnover firm

Two law firms based in the North have given up on merger talks, which would have created a £130m-turnover law firm. Ward Hadaway and Weightmans have mutually agreed to withdraw from their merger discussions, they announced this morning. In a joint statement, the firms said they could see “undoubted benefits” of the merger, and have a “great deal in common” however both agreed that their strategies were not aligned.
