City Council’s scrutiny panel to be suspended
The scrutiny panel that has been in place for more than two years to hold Birmingham City Council accountable after the damning Kerslake report is to step back.
The Birmingham Independent Improvement Panel has recommended to Communities Secretary Sajid Javid that "it should suspend its current operation".
The move is a reaction to "recent positive developments", which are being led by a new senior management team at the council and "strong political leadership".
