Narrow lead for Andy Street as Mayoral vote goes to second preference

The vote for the first elected mayor of the West Midlands has gone to the second preference vote after no candidate won 50% in the first round. Two candidates - Labour's Sion Simon and the Conservative's Andy Street - have gone forward to the second round, with the second preference votes of the four eliminated candidates now being counted. In the first round Sion Simon received 210,259 votes and Andy Street 216,280, putting the former John Lewis boss 6,021 votes ahead. A final result is expected around 6pm. 523,201 v...
