Average East Midlands adult in debt ‘owes over £8,000’
The average adult in debt in the East Midlands owes £8,019 - excluding mortgages and student loans - according to research by the Midlands branch of R3, the insolvency trade body.
The amount equates to over 15 weeks’ average earnings for a UK worker (£503 per week) and ten months’ average rent in England & Wales (£792 per month) and eclipses the national average of £5,778.
The R3 survey, carried out in conjunction with ComRes, also found that 15% of East Midlands adults owes £10,000 or more and 7% owes £20,000 or more....
