Sometimes people just like reading bad news, and that was the case this week as the 320 redundancies made at the Courtaulds factory in Belper came like a bolt out of the blue.
The Courtaulds job losses are the first big casualty of the ongoing saga at BHS, which - it seems - simply stopped ordering the Pretty Polly hosiery made in Belper.
There are desperate talks taking place today (27 May) to try and find a buyer for the factory, but you have to ask yourself: who will be next if BHS can't put together a rescue package.
