One-in-five morning commuters stand on Birmingham trains

NEARLY 21,000 rail users in the West Midlands are suffering from overcrowding on trains, with one in five forced to stand on their way into Birmingham each morning.

Figures released by the Department of Transport revealed that nearly 60% of peak trains into Birmingham contained standing passengers, compared with just 29% in 2010.
