Tribunal awards up to £250,000 to axed Caparo staff

65 workers from failed steel group Caparo have been awarded a payout totalling up to £250,000 by a tribunal. The money compensates the staff for 90 days' redundancy pay that they missed out on when the group collapsed in 2015. Employees of the steel products arm of the company had been called into a meeting, with half of the staff told they would keep their jobs and the other half were told they were sacked and had an hour to leave the premises. But an employment tribunal ruled the sacked workers should be paid 90 days' back...
