Osborne to quit as MP ‘for now’
Former Chancellor George Osborne and the architect of the Northern Powerhouse has announced he is quitting as an MP.
But the newly-installed editor of London’s Evening Standard used the newspaper’s platform to say he would be “fighting for that Britain I love” in his new role.
In a letter revealing his decision to Conservatives in his Tatton, Cheshire constituency, he said he was thrilled to be taking charge of “a great newspaper”.
