Mo Bhaskaran

Specialisation

Mo heads Stewarts Law’s commercial litigation team in Leeds. He has specialised for over 14 years in advising on complex commercial litigation (contract, tort, shareholder disputes and directors’ duties) including large scale fraud and corruption claims and investigations.

Mo has been involved in numerous multi-million pound disputes including several claims arising from failed IT development projects as well as increasing numbers of problems arising on high value PFI projects. He has also advised on the myriad of issues arising from large scale product recalls.

Mo’s fraud and corruption experience is extensive and includes advising several large corporates on their anti-bribery compliance programmes following the introduction of the Bribery Act as well as investigations into suspected fraud and corruption.

Recent work includes:

• internal investigation into suspected corruption by the overseas agent of a listed plc and advising on all aspects of its response including claims against the agent, regulatory reporting obligations and enhanced internal compliance procedures
• internal investigation for a large listed corporate following an allegation that insider information had been unlawfully disclosed
• acting for a major public sector organisation in pursuing and settling claims against the supplier of its new HR system in relation to defects and delays
• investigating a whistleblower report of wide-scale fraudulent overcharging by a services provider and advising on the resulting compensation claims
• advising a major global manufacturer on all aspects arising from the recall of one of its products from all of its European markets

Career

Mo trained with Pinsent Masons and qualified there in 1999. He became a partner in 2007 before being recruited by Stewarts Law in 2013 to lead its commercial litigation team in Leeds.

Mo is an accredited mediator and committee member within the Society for Computers and Law.
