Andrew Gilchrist

Andy studied Law at the University of the West of England.   Prior to joining Lupton Fawcett Denison Till, Andy worked at the national law firm, Cobbetts LLP, where he was promoted to the position of Associate just 3 years after qualifying.

Having worked outside the legal profession for 10 years prior to becoming a solicitor, Andy instinctively looks at problems from a client’s (as well as a lawyer’s) perspective.  As a result he has a very rounded business approach, having experienced first hand the employment and HR issues that arise in most businesses.

He advises on all employment and HR related matters for both organisations and individuals, including the provision of employment advice on corporate restructures, executive terminations, large scale redundancies and appeals to the Employment Appeal Tribunal (EAT).  Andy has been the lead employment adviser to a number of household names in the construction, DIY, property and manufacturing sectors, including Tarmac, MFI, Magnet and ArcelorMittal.

Many of Andy’s clients find his approach as a robust litigator and a creative and sophisticated negotiator invaluable.   Clients have commented that he has a very commercial approach to solving problems:  One client commenting, “Lots of lawyers say they provide commercial advice but he is one of the few who actually does”.

Andy is a member of the Law Society and Employment Lawyers’ Association, and often conducts bespoke training sessions for clients on employment issues.
