The Leeds and Partners delegation to the event, held in Cannes from March 12 to 14, are hosting a packed programme to take the Leeds City Region’s proposition to some of the world’s most influential investment decision makers.

Confirmed speakers include Professor Greg Clark, an international advisor on corporate and city strategy and investment, and Sir Edward Lister, chief of staff and deputy mayor for London.

They will be joined by Tom Riordan, chief executive of Leeds City Council; Andy Taylor, Bradford Council’s economic development delivery manager; Andy Wallhead, corporate director regeneration and economic growth at Wakefield Council; and Kersten England, chief executive, of City of York Council.

Prof Clark said: “There is increased confidence that the Leeds City Region is a great place to invest. It has a record of success, offers demonstrable value for money and tremendous opportunities for businesses looking for somewhere to locate in the UK.”

Prof Clark will be leading discussions considering what a future city may look like, how it may be funded and the importance of technology, leadership, investment and connectivity in enabling success.

Lurene Joseph, chief executive of Leeds and Partners, said: “We are determined that Leeds will be an exemplar of a future city, and TheCityUK has already identified Leeds as one of the key cities for companies looking to expand or repatriate services to the UK. This is a major opportunity we are looking to explore further during 2013.

“With the recent TheCityUK research highlighting such good potential for growth in the area, inward investment will be a vital. We are now focussed on raising the profile of our work nationally and internationally as part of our commitment to developing a secure and successful future for Leeds and the city region.”
