David Walton – Head of Retail, Harris Lamb

David has been employed in the property industry since 1998 having obtained a Degree in Land Management. David is a Chartered surveyor, and has had a varied career as a general practice surveyor dealing with agency, acquisition, property management, valuation, landlord and tenant, development and rating. Throughout his employment he has predominantly dealt with retail and leisure property.

David has during his career had involvement with retail units across the UK, having managed and let shopping centres, out of town units and high street shops, with notable clients having included Subway Sandwiches, Starbucks, 99p Stores, Family Bargains, Coventry Building Society and Heart of England Co-operative Society.

David advises Heart of England co-op on a variety of property matters, including disposals and acquisitions. He was their managing agent for 14 years before joining Harris Lamb, and has acquired and advised on supermarkets, convenience stores and funeral homes together with their investment portfolio.

In 2010 David was retained by 99p Stores and Family Bargains to advise on acquisitions throughout the Midland and North of England. In 2014 this was expanded to a further three counties when he joined Harris Lamb. In a 13-month period David added 19 properties to their store network.

He is currently working closely with fusion food specialists Wrapchic, fresh pizza chain Inferno, Dignity and a number of other retailers, to help the brands expand their UK retail presence.

David acts for a variety of landlords on Retail Parks, Shopping Centres and High Street retail. He has also advised on the development of neighbourhood centres and leisure property.
