UK car sales the best this century in March

THE UK automotive market has enjoyed its best month this century – with sales at their highest level since the introduction of twice-yearly number plates in 1999.

Figures released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders show almost half a million cars (492,774) were registered in March, up 6% on same month last year.

The fleet market is continuing to push new sales, which the SMMT said highlighted rising confidence levels amongst British business. Sales to fleet buyers grew 11.6% last month and...
