Top manufacturers to judge Business Masters awards
REPRESENTATIVES from two of Birmingham’s oldest manufacturing firms are to be judges at this year’s TheBusinessDesk.com West Midlands Business Masters Awards.
Simon Topman, managing director of Acme Whistles – which have been made in Birmingham since 1870 – and Rowan Crozier, sales and marketing director of precision metal components manufacturer Brandauer – which is more than 100 years old – will be helping to draw up the short lists in the six categories in our premier annual awards.
They will be joined as judges by Richard Butler, regional director of the CBI and Dr David Hardman, CEO of Birmingham Science Park. The remaining two judges will be named in due course.
The judges will be asked to help choose the best entrepreneurs and businesses in the West Midlands.
The Masters awards recognise success in innovation, international trade, manufacturing, social responsibility and leadership, while new business success will also be celebrated in the West Midlands Newcomer award.
The lunchtime event, to be held on Thursday May 16 at the Hyatt hotel in Birmingham, is a fresh alternative to other business awards events. With just six awards, the focus is on quality, not quantity.

West Midlands Newcomer: Best new business initiative.
West Midlands Pride: Most meaningful philanthropic initiative by a business, organisation or leader
West Midlands Innovator: Most creative product, idea or original business thinking
West Midlands Exporter: Recognising outstanding success in international markets
West Midlands Manufacturer: The company leading the way in this critical sector
