Technology Associates secures new business at Canadian conference

A WARWICKSHIRE IT company has secured £176,000 worth of business following a successful UK Trade & Investment funded visit to Canada.

Technology Associates Ltd, of Shottery Brook Office Park, Stratford-upon-Avon, secured the new contracts after attending the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference in Toronto.

The orders will see the firm provide innovative cloud-based software solutions and support for several international companies based in the United States and Canada.

Kevin Kirby set up the firm 22 years ago to provide traditional project management solutions. It has since become a Microsoft Gold Partner focused on providing IT services, support and training as well as independent software solutions to a growing worldwide client base.

Mr Kirby said: “This is the 10th time we have attended the Worldwide Microsoft Conference and each time I’ve secured new contract wins on the back of the contacts I’ve made with companies. But this is the third time we have done it with support from UKTI and the difference that makes is significant.

“The event itself offers individuals and companies the opportunity to network and communicate their service offer to over 16,000 partners, in order to sell products and services to a wider market.

“It was a real privilege to be part of the conference and I’d like to thank the Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber and in particular Bineet Desai for the support given to me to enable the trip to become a reality.”

During the Toronto conference, Microsoft announced its acquisition of Perceptive Pixel. Technology Associates is now in discussions with Microsoft about being an exclusive UK partner and reseller for the new Perceptive Pixel large format touch screen devices.

Bineet Desai, International Trade Adviser for UK Trade & Investment based at Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber, said: “It’s hugely important that businesses make the most of the opportunities available to them for trading overseas, particular in areas such as IT solutions and software where location is largely irrelevant.

“We were really pleased that Jon Roskill, the corporate vice president, Worldwide Partner Group for Microsoft Inc recognised our commitment and thanked us personally for supporting West Midlands ICT and Digital Media SME companies in the Microsoft supply chain to become more export oriented.

“We’ll be looking to build on the success of the Toronto market visit organising further opportunities for companies to get involved in overseas trade in the near future.”

In December last year, Mr Kirby was appointed Worldwide President for the International Association of Microsoft Channel partners (IAMCP) – the official voice of Microsoft. He was selected by Microsoft from 640,000 partners worldwide.
