MANUFACTURERS in the Midlands have a great deal to be optimistic about despite the difficult economic climate, sector specialists have said.

Recent announcements such as Jaguar Land Rover’s decision to build a new £355m engine plant on a site in South Staffordshire and proposals to create 1,200 new jobs with the expansion of the Rolls-Royce/Goodrich joint venture Aero Engine Controls in Birmingham are but two examples of the way the sector is tackling the challenging environment.
