EY’s Midlands office sits at the heart of Birmingham city and is the largest of the firm’s UK offices outside London.
With over 900 employees based at One Colmore Square, we offer a wide range of audit, tax, transaction and advisory services to our clients in the Midlands and serve a variety of industry sectors; automotive, aerospace and defence, retail and consumer goods, software, power and utilities, real estate and government and public sector. EY work with a diverse group of clients, from emerging entrepreneurs, through to mid-market and large blue-chip organisations advising businesses to help them achieve their business objectives.
The middle market in particular is having a significant impact on growth in the Midlands, with the region constantly being highlighted as having a vibrant and thriving entrepreneurial culture. EY’s regional economic forecast indicates that Midlands is listed as one of the highest regional exporters in the UK and Birmingham was named a hotspot for start-up companies.
EY has strong links with entrepreneurial businesses in the Midlands through the Entrepreneur Of The Year awards programme, which last year brought in entrants; Poundland, Quotient Clinical, Inspired Thinking Group (ITG) and Mercia Group Technologies – all operating in the middle market. The 33 finalists had combined revenues of over £2.4bn and employed more than 24,000 people across the region.

Sara Fowler, Office Managing Partner – with over 20 years’ experience in forensic services and leading many global projects for Midlands’ clients, Sara leads the regional Fraud Investigation & Dispute Services. She has been with EY for 25 years and was named as one of the EY 21 Woman for the 21st Century. Sara is on the West Midlands CBI board and the Library of Birmingham Trust board and is also Chair of our Board of Directors at St. Basils.
John Houlden, Transactions Partner – John leads our Midlands Transaction Advisory Services with a particular focus on working with Midlands based corporates and private equity houses working with them to successfully deliver transactions of all varieties including management buy outs, bolt on acquisitions and transformational transactions including IPO’s.
Linda Marston-Weston, Entrepreneurial Services Partner – with over 25 years’ experience, Linda leads EY Midlands Entrepreneurial Services, providing tax advice and solutions to privately owned and public quoted companies, both on transactions and in relation to ongoing tax issues. She also acts as Tax Account Leader on a portfolio of corporate and private equity clients.
Andrew Spence, Tax Partner and Midlands Entrepreneur of Year Leader – with a 25 year career, Andrew leads the Business Tax Services and has advised on; International tax structures, withholding tax, EU law and transfer pricing, exit planning, joint venture structuring, PFI/PPP, partnership taxation, securitisations and much more. Andrew sponsors the Entrepreneur of Year programme in the Midlands.
Joanne Kaveney-Davis, People Advisory Services Partner – Joanne has 23 years’ experience advising multinational clients in cross border tax and human capital issues and delivers insight and innovation on people, organisational and compliance issues to help solve mobility and people related business challenges. Joanne’s background includes industry so she understands the daily challenges faced by mobility professionals.
Chris Voogd, Audit Partner – Chris has over 15 years’ experience as an EY Partner. Working with many of our multinational FTSE and PE-backed businesses, Chris supports businesses in enhancing their confidence over matters including risk management, auditor regulation, corporate governance, acquisitions and IPOs and refinancings.
