Thinktank calls for maximum one-hour commute

THINKTANK IPPR North has called for the new wave of mayors set to sweep major English cities to pledge no-one within their city region should have to commute by bus for longer than an hour.

The report “Connecting Lines” published today by the Institute of Public Policy Research North, also calls for faster and more convenient transport to vital public services: currently almost two-thirds of households are more than 30 minutes away from a hospital.
