‘Debt-free’ football club up for sale
THE chairman and majority shareholder of Morecambe has put the League Two football club up for sale.
Peter McGuigan, a former chief executive of sportswear brand Umbro and fashion brand Bench, has been chairman for 16 years and steered the club through its move from Christie Stadium to the Globe Arena in 2010.
In statement, Cheshire-based McGuigan said: "I feel the time is right for a new owner to take the club forward and build on a strong platform that exists today."
